21 dedicated coal berths, max size of which
is 150,000t, create a designed annual throughput
of 193mlt. Super long train with 20,000t
capacity can be unloaded by world most advanced
coal loading & unloading facilities
here. The port has world largest dedicated
coal stock yards covering 2.498 million
square meters. There are two shipping channels
with “DGPS” navigation system providing
round-the-clock service.
Port of
Qinhuangdao is an auxiliary large-scale
coal transport port of the dedicated coal
railway line from Datong to Qinhuangdao.
Automatic management is realized on unloading
and ship loading with Chinese most advanced
coal handling facilities. At present, car-dumper
system is adopted in the East Harbor, while
the West Harbor still follows spiral unloading
facilities. Both car-dumper systems of Phase
3rd and 4th Coal Terminals can unload trains
of 10,000dwt and super long trains with
20,000 tons coal have been handled successively.
Coal trains enter the car-dumper system
directly and are tipped uncoupled. 10 car-dumpers
are in serve in Port of Qinhuangdao and
maximum efficiency of each is 5400t per
hour.
Phase 1 Coal Terminal Project:
As the first large-scale coal transport
terminal which is self-designed and self-constructed
in China, it was completed and put into
operation in 1983. With a 20,000 dwt berth
and a 50,000 dwt berth, a vessel of 60,000dwt
can be berthed. The designed annual throughput
is 10mlt.
Phase 2 Coal Terminal Project:
With two 50,000dwt berths, it was put into
operation in 1985, the designed annual throughput
being 20mlt. Jetty system is used on Phase
2 Coal Terminal and 70,000dwt vessels can
berth there. The loading & unloading
facilities that are highly automatic were
imported from Japan and UK.
Phase 3 Coal Terminal Project:
It was completed and put into operation
in 1989 with a designed annual capacity
of 30 million tons. The principal facilities
include two 35,000dwt berths and one 100,000
berth as well as a large coal stock yard
which covers 256.7 square meters with a
designed capacity of 1.70 million tons.
As the affiliated project of Datong-Qinhuangdao
Electrified Railway, Phase 3 Coal Terminal
enjoys advantaged inland transport conditions.
A number of operation lines and high efficiency
are the features of the terminal. Systematic
management and information management are
adopted with the entire system controlled
by computer and PLC system.
Phase 4 Coal Terminal Project:
As the state key project, it is a large-scale
modern dedicated coal terminal with a designed
annual throughput of 40mlt. The total investment
is 1.6 billion yuan. Replying on the Datong-Qinhuangdao
Railway, coal is transported mainly from
Shanxi Province, Shaanxi Province, Inner
Mongolia to East China, South China, Japan,
Korea and Southeast Asia. Phase 4 Coal Terminal
is constructed with one 100,000dwt berth
and two 35,000dwt berths. All equipments
controlled by advanced computer and PLC
network. It can boast to have the most advanced
coal handling equipments in the world.
Reserved Project for Phase 4 Coal Terminal:
It was completed in July, 2004 with 326
million Yuan injected. Another 50,000dwt
dedicated coal terminal was put into operation
and another car-dumper was erected with
a capacity of 5400t/h. It added 10 million
tons to the port coal annual throughput.
NO 7 Stevedoring Company is the managing
body of Phase 4 Coal Terminal Project.
The Extension Project of Phase 4 Coal Terminal:
Taking advantage of the reserved unloading
capacity of Phase 4 Coal Terminal Project,
auxiliary facilities are put into service.
A 50,000dwt berth and a 35,000dwt berth
constructed, total length of the terminal
being 495m, the designed annual capacity
is 15mlt. Budgetary investment on the project
is 906 million Yuan. Three strips of stock
yards covering 257,000 square meters with
a capacity of 1.25mlt are built imposing
existing land area in the harbor.
Phase 5 Coal Terminal Project:
Located in the East Harbor, Phase 5 Coal
Terminal is constructed with two 50,000dwt
berths, one 100,000dwt berth and one 15,0000dwt
berth with a designed annual capacity of
50 million tons. It is the largest and most
advanced coal terminal in China, adopting
world-leading technology of the 21th century.
48 flows are designed dumping & stacking
and 259 for reclaiming & ship loading.
“Three lines, three car-dumpers” system
is adopted in the unloading process. It
is designed to unload 20,000 marshalling
train and four traction engines can pass
the car-dumper system, efficiency being
7,200t/h. The port largest coal stockyard
occupies 770,000 square meters with a capacity
of 4mlt.
