The oil
terminal project of Port of Qinhuangdao
was constructed in 1972 and put into operation
the next year. Originally aimed at serving
Daqing Oil Field, it is the first dedicated
crude oil terminal in China adopting pipeline
transportation and equipped with advanced
oil transport facilities.
The annual designed capacity of the oil
terminal is 15.4 million tons, consisting
of four berths, two 20,000dwt, one 50,000dwt
and the other one is 3000dwt for finished
oil products, enabling the terminal to handle
liquid bulk cargo vessels from 2000t to
60000t. In recent years, six oil tanks each
with a capacity of 20000 cubic meters and
three 50000 cubic meters tanks have been
built successively to enhance the port functions,
widen business channels and enlarge the
storage capacity. The terminal is equipped
with 27 oil tanks with a total capacity
of 281000 cubic meters, 10 berths finished
oil handling platforms for vehicles and
64 berths for trains. Furthermore, the oil
pipelines are reconstructed.
Recently, berths for finished oil product
with auxiliary facilities like oil tank,
pipeline, railroad and road unloading platforms,
etc. have been part of the new appearance
of Port of Qinhuangdao. New businesses explored
successively, crude oil resources from Daqing
Oil Fields won over, ocean oil transportation
stabilized, the oil and ethanol in the east
of Hebei Province successfully exploited,
andthe project of Dalian Fuel Oil developed,
the oil terminal has started to boom. The
oil terminal of Port of Qinhuangdao has
developed from the simplex crude oil handling
terminal into a comprehensive oil terminal
dealing with various oil products through
years of infrastructure construction.
